Quick & Easy Sofrito Recipe

What is Sofrito?

It is a wonderful seasoning base, or a secret addition, to a variety of Hispanic dishes. There are so many different recipes for Sofrito depending on geographical location but it is important to find a recipe where you are familiar with the ingredients and can find them locally. This is a sofrito recipe that is quick and easy to make, plus no cooking required.

Don’t be afraid to change the recipe, add other ingredients that will mix well with these flavors or omit other ingredients that you may not be a fan of.

Tips for the perfect Sofrito...

  1. Pick out the freshest ingredients from your local supermarket or farmers market. It is even better when grown in your garden.
  2. Easy to double recipe and make plenty to use for later. We like to make a few batches at once to store in the freezer.
  3. Do not add salt to this recipe. This is important since you will use this to flavor many different dishes.
  4. Try not to add any additional liquid ingredients such as water or olive oil. It would make the sofrito runny and would become less flavorful.

Easy Substitutions

*Substitute lemon for limes if needed

*Substitute red peppers for green for sweeter flavor
